Water Under The Bridge (Acqua Passata) è la traccia numero sei inclusa in 25, terzo album in studio di Adele, pubblicato il 20 novembre 2015. Ricordiamo che dal disco dei record della cantautrice inglese, ad oggi sono stati estratti due singoli: Hello e When We Were Young, rilasciati rispettivamente il 23 ottobre 2015 ed il 22 gennaio 2016.
Scritta dalla cantante (come del resto tutte le undici tracce del progetto) con la collaborazione di Greg Kurstin, che ha anche curato la produzione, questa canzone ha un sound decisamente accattivante ed orecchiabile, direi perfetto per le radio, anche se, almeno al momento, non viene trasmessa da alcuna emittente radiofonica.
Il significato: il pezzo parla di un amore ferito; la cantante teme che la sua fiamma possa lasciarlo da un momento all’altro, ma allo stesso tempo spera che il loro amore non sia acqua passata, anche se l’uomo sembra essere abbastanza freddo e imprudente. Adele si rivolge a lui dicendogli: se hai intenzione di lasciarmi, fallo con delicatezza, ma allo stesso tempo, vuole convincersi che tale sentimento sia ancora reale e che lui la desideri ancora. La cantante sembra farsi portavoce delle persone che hanno il cuore infranto, il tutto senza essere mai banale.
