Porta il titolo di Make You Better il singolo che segna il ritorno dei The Decemberists. A poco più di quattro anni di distanza da The King Is Dead, ultima fatica discografica pubblicata il 18 gennaio 2011, la rock band statunitense torna con questo brano inedito, che sarà incluso nella tracklist del settimo album in studio battezzato “What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World“, che vedrà la luce nel 2015, presumibilmente il prossimo il 20 gennaio. Stando a quanto riportato in un comunicato stampa, l’opera è stata prodotta da Tucker Martine (ormai fedele collaboratore della band di Portland), e le registrazioni sono iniziate nel maggio 2013. Il disco propone tematiche molto più personali rispetto ai precedenti lavori, come affermato dal leader Colin Meloy: “Avere una famiglia, avere dei bambini, avere una carriera, invecchiare… tutte queste cose mi hanno fatto guardare maggiormente dentro di me”. Queste riflessioni iniziano dal brano intitolato “12/17/12“, un pezzo scritto dopo aver ascoltato il messaggio del presidente Obama alla nazione, a seguito dell’ormai famosa sparatoria nella scuola di Newton. “Sono stato colpito da un senso di impotenza, ma anche dal messaggio ‘Tenete vicina la vostra famiglia. Questo sconcertante e contrastante sentimento è emerso nel verso “che mondo terribile, che mondo bellissimo” ascoltabile verso la fine della canzone“, verso che ha quindi dato il titolo al nuovo progetto discografico.
La nuova canzone Make You Better, è stata rilasciata in download digitale oggi, martedì 4 novembre 2014, e dal giorno prima è possibile ascoltare l’audio attraverso un video caricato nel canale Youtube del gruppo il giorno prima. L’inedito, che avrà il compito di promuovere il nuovo disco, è ascoltabile cliccando sull’immagine sottostante dopo la quale trovate il testo in inglese.
