Uptight Downtown è il titolo del nuovo singolo dei La Roux, synthpop band inglese formata da due componenti: la cantante Elly Jackson ed il co-autore e co-produttore Ben Langmaid, che tuttavia ha dichiarato in occasione di un’intervista rilasciata alla rivista musicale britannica NME a fine giugno, di aver lasciato da sola la collega, a causa “divergenze creative”.
La canzone fa da apripista al nuovo nonché secondo studio album battezzato Trouble in Paradise, che vedrà la luce il prossimo 22 luglio. I due artisti si sono separati al termine delle registrazioni del nuovo disco, che farà seguito all’ottimo lavoro d’esordio “La Roux” uscito nel 2009, del quale sono state piazzate 2 milioni di copie in tutto il globo, oltre ad essere stato premiato con un prestigioso un Grammy Awards. L’opera conterrà nove tracce inedite, tutte scritte e suonate da Elly Jackson e coprodotte insieme a Ian Sherwin.
Dopo il buzz single intitolato Let Me Down Gently, ecco il primo singolo ufficiale del duo londinese, una midtempo pop dalle sonorità anni ’70, decisamente radio friendly ed orecchiabile.
