Treat You Better (trattarti meglio) è il nuovo singolo del giovane cantautore canadese Shawn Mendes, pubblicato il 3 giugno 2016 e trasmesso dalle emittenti radiofoniche nazionali dal 10 giugno. L’inedito sarà incluso nel suo secondo album in carriera, che farà seguito al fortunato Handwritten. Al momento in cui scrivo, non vi sono novità riguardo l’atteso progetto. Edit: il disco si intitola Illuminate ed esce il 23 settembre 2016.
In questa canzone, scritta da Mendes con la collaborazione di Scott Harris e Teddy Geiger, che l’ha anche prodotta insieme a Dan Romer, il cantante, compositore e musicista classe 1998, si rivolge alla ragazza di cui è innamorato, invitandola a lasciare perdere la persona con cui attualmente ha una relazione, rea di non darle l’amore e tante altre belle cose che la tipa meriterebbe. Mendes le promette che la tratterà meglio di lui, che staranno bene insieme e che non la deluderà mai.
